The Dog world and Hearsay, Lies, Gossip and Rumor...
Be aware that the world of Dog Breeding is very competitive and some breeders are very skilled "Sales People" with the "gift of the gab" who are prepared to say ANYTHING to discredit another breeder to ensure a puppy sale or their own stud dog is used instead of another’s. I have experience of breeders who will say they are working in with another reputable breeder for credit or so they can assume to take enquiries off another breeder from puppy purchasers. Unfortunately we live a very competitive world now and some have changed from good sports and people with integrity to those that are not and have none. One rotten apple can spoil the barrel so be aware and speak to the breeders themselves first.
I advise people to see the dogs for themselves and make their own judgments. Do not make decisions based on gossip and the opinions of others whose motivation may be malicious or purely monetary. Use your intuition.
We have produced German Pinschers that have been successfully trained in various fields from Obedience and Agility to multi awarded comformation dogs as early as the 1990's. Our German Pinschers are winners of the World Show and Royal BOB winners under all breeds and specialty judges, and class in group winners. We hold the record for the first R/up class in group win in 1989/90 and bred the second surviving litter in Australia with the first S.A bred champions. Our Dobermanns have won multi BIS, RBIS, BIG, class in show under all breeds and specialty judges. We return from our semi-retirement (due to working commitments not lack of interest) from breeding with our new breeding program with the full extent of our 24 years experience in the dog world…See
Masterkarn litters ...
The future is bright with our new imports, our older lines and future plans on track…in beautiful South Australia. Australia.
Our name speaks for itself and we pride ourselves in breeding quality, healthy dogs with a life time commitment to people who decide to take a Masterkarn Show, Obedience or Companion dog. Many owners past and present have returned with family or friends to add another Masterkarn dog to their kennel or family home.
Masterkarn kennels are an independent kennel and we recommend you read our Advice and About GP's page before looking for a breeder to buy your puppy or adult dog from.
We move into the future...
Our breeding goals at Masterkarn
We believe that comformation, health and temperament are vitally important to our dogs’ NOT just comformation. We understand all breeders will have a different interpretation of the breed standard but know that a general consensus of type is considered correct by most. We know the perfect dog will never be created but we strive for the ideal in our breeding goals. We are striving for the perfect healthy family/working dog of original GP type. All our litters are bred to our high self imposed and the NSW breed club standards.
Temperament- We believe that the German Pinscher is a natural independent working dog in his temperament and should be bred for that stable working mentality. The GP is also a family dog and should live with the family, our dogs do and we aim for that stable working/family temperament when considering the qualities of all future breeding stock. We have successfully temperament tested our dogs as early as the 1980’s.
Comformation goals considered at Masterkarn is firstly:- The correct Pinscher type set out in both the UK and FCI standard when breeding. Comformation is of utmost importance to us and we will overlook some minor points for good type. The most important is a correct GP head type with parallel planes, good deep under jaw with depth of muzzle of the elongated [not long] wedge shaped GP head. Our target is the beautiful lay of shoulder and correct angulation of both the forequarters and hindquarters of the dog. We look to breed the beautiful correct moderate forechest and good depth of chest with room for heart/lung capacity. A GP must have a compact and short coupled body. We aim for the length of body to approximately equal height at withers and withers to onset of high set tail. A GP must have a short back and be slightly sloping to a smooth topline. It is important to us to incorporate the breed feature- the front reach and strong rear drive that accompanies the true rotary movement often missing so much in many of today’s GPs’. We breed to the standard not alter the standard to suit us!
Health – All our dogs are tested for Hips/Elbows, Eyes and VWD in preparation for breeding. We breed only with good hips and elbows, eyes and preferably clear VWD dogs. We will use a carrier VWD dog if necessary but never an affected dog. We do a complete health check regularly on our dogs.
